Overview: The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Facilitator is responsible for designing and executing educational programs for individuals enrolled in the Adult Education/GED initiative, which encompasses Literacy, Pre-GED, and GED courses. This role involves the strategic planning and delivery of effective instruction, assessment, and monitoring of student progress within ABE/GED offerings. Our mission is to adopt a learner-centered approach that aligns with the diverse needs and aspirations of the community we serve.
Supervision: The Facilitator will operate under the direct oversight of the Director of Adult Basic Education within the Workforce Development Continuing Education Division.
Responsibilities/DutiesKey Functions:
- Deliver high-quality instruction to adult learners utilizing evidence-based teaching methodologies and best practices, including differentiated instruction.
- Incorporate career exploration and workforce readiness components into the curriculum.
- Provide mentoring and support to students, including referrals to tutoring services and guidance on career pathways.
- Conduct both formative and summative assessments of student learning.
- Maintain accurate student records and fulfill all reporting obligations.
- Participate in required professional development opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with students regarding instructional expectations and their progress.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Exhibit knowledge and cultural sensitivity towards the adult learner demographic.
- Demonstrate understanding of adult educational theories and practices.
- Proficient in digital technology and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to effectively utilize technology for instructional and reporting purposes.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Baltimore City Community College.
- Support program objectives and adhere to established guidelines and responsibilities.
- Engage in regular communication with colleagues to foster an open exchange of ideas.
- Design and implement learner-centered instruction tailored to meet individual needs.

Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field.
- Experience working with non-traditional adult learners in educational or workforce development settings.
- A minimum of three years of instructional experience in Secondary or Adult Education.
- Master's degree.
- Valid professional teaching certification relevant to the subject area.
- At least three years of instructional experience in Secondary or Adult Education.
