Job Title: Sustainment Systems Engineer

Acuity Innovations LLC is a leading provider of enterprise architecture, solution design, digital engineering, and system integration services. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainment Systems Engineer to join our team.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing systems engineering advisory assistance to the government customer, including daily engineering consultation in support of sustainment activities. This will involve engaging with the Joint space warfighting community, supporting sustainment tasks through established space systems engineering processes and procedures, and evaluating and producing products of a technical nature.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide systems engineering advisory assistance to the government customer
  • Engage with the Joint space warfighting community to support sustainment tasks
  • Evaluate and produce products of a technical nature
  • Assist with technology readiness assessments and identify risks and issues with proposed technologies
  • Support waiver, deviation, and deficiency reviews, system allocations, and compliance assessments
  • Conduct system/enterprise level engineering analysis to identify sustainment problem areas and provide impact analysis and forecast potential failures
  • Perform engineering analysis on organizational technical processes and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support formulation of relevant information of sustainment objectives and perform engineering analysis and system-level assessments for decision support
  • Perform studies and analyses of military air, surface, maritime, space, and cyberspace missions to assess integration, system-of-systems factors, system vulnerability and survivability, system commonality, new technologies, enhancements, commercialization, cost effectiveness, and mission assurance
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or equivalent technical discipline
  • 5+ years of experience working with military or DoD civilian clients and managing professional relationships
  • 4+ years of experience working in a highly competitive multi-contractor environment
  • 5+ years of experience in architecture/requirements definition/analysis, acquisitions, engineering/design, fielding/integration, and verification or analysis
  • 4+ years of relevant systems engineering experience
  • 4+ years of relevant systems integration experience
  • 4+ years of relevant experience engaging government customers to advance projects and initiatives at varying degrees of complexity through engineering management
  • Must be able to demonstrate engineering principles and concepts
  • Expertise with requirements development and analysis, and the development of systems engineering-related documents including requirements/specifications, interface control documents, and validation & verification plans
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; able to sort through complex issues and develop clear solutions, provide in-depth technical assessments and identify issues and risks
  • Effective interpersonal and team player skills in order to engage at both the peer and management levels
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoD agencies to commercial industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Clear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skills; able to clearly articulate ideas, recommendations, and options to the customer
  • Highly-organized individual, capable of handling multiple competing priorities; able to multi-task, prioritize tasks, and quickly adjust in a dynamic environment
  • Must be a US Citizen and have an active DOD Secret required to be considered for the position
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience in a DoD program office with understanding of DoD acquisition processes and compliance with government instructions; especially prior military/civilian experience working with space systems
  • 6+ years of experience working with strategic & tactical MILSATCOM space systems (spacecraft, uplinks/downlinks, command & control, networks, and/or user communities)
  • Knowledge of Digital Engineering (DE) or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) applications (i.e., SparxEA, Cameo, etc)
  • Current International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) certification (i.e., ASEP, CSEP)
  • Knowledge of Agile software development processes and applications (i.e., Jira/Confluence)
