Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School-Based Registered Nurse to join our team at Baltimore City Public School System. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in promoting student health and educational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care and assessments to students and populations, including leadership for the provision of health services and programmatic coordination.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans for students with chronic illnesses and/or medical disabilities.
  • Complete nursing appraisals for all students with chronic illnesses and/or medical disabilities.
  • Develop and promote health education programs for the school community.
  • Maintain all clinical records and coordinate state-mandated screenings.
  • Counsel students, parents, teachers, and school administrators regarding health problems and provide information and/or referrals to community resources.
  • Develop plans and procedures for emergency management of illnesses and injuries within the school community.
  • Monitor and track student immunization compliance and train staff in administering routine and emergency medications.
  • Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary student support team and provide health counsel in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and Section 504b Plans.
Requirements
  • An Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelors preferred from an accredited institution.
  • A valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Maryland, in good standing with the board.
  • At least one year of clinical experience in a tertiary care setting, pediatric care preferred.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and be legally allowed to work in the U.S.
Physical Demands

The job functions will require the following physical demands at varying degrees: lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, feeling, standing, and walking without the use of assistive devices, and sitting. Manual dexterity is required to operate a computer, telephone, and health equipment. Ability to see and read with or without the use of assistive devices, hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and speak in audible tones.
