360 Headhunter is seeking a highly skilled Commodity Manager to support manufacturing requirements for the procurement of key assigned commodities and/or a manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have exceptional negotiation skills, a strong ability to communicate effectively, and a well-organized approach to managing complex procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procurement Process Development: Learn and implement the S&OP process, working closely with scheduling, plant operations, sales, and engineering teams to develop forecasts, implement procurement systems, and drive efficiency.
  • Commodity Sourcing: Develop an in-depth understanding of assigned commodities, including pricing, trends, world markets, potential supply bases, and supplier capabilities. Source from competitive suppliers who best fulfill requirements.
  • Supplier Management: Work with suppliers to develop assured capacity and on-time deliveries to meet manufacturing schedules. Support emergency expediting efforts for assigned commodities.
  • Negotiation and Contracting: Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions, lead-times, and formulate contracts/agreements with suppliers to minimize total cost, improve quality, and assure on-time delivery with moderate oversight from the Director or Sourcing Manager.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Assist management in developing and executing the supply management process to maximize the contributions of suppliers and support the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Organize and direct commodity teams to improve internal communications, understanding, and promote consensus management and decision-making.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with assigned manufacturing facilities or commodities to understand material availability, overall purchase order performance, and inventory management.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Supervise a team and determine the overall buying strategy for assigned manufacturing facilities.
  • Product Development: Work in unison with design engineering to develop new products via raw materials, design options, and/or procurement opportunities that lower product costs and/or enhance the quality and value of products.
  • Process Improvement: Keep parts updated with pertinent supplier data and support departmental efforts towards improving procedures, processes, systems, and efficiencies.

  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BS/BA degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Certifications: Professional certification CPM/or APICS preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years direct purchasing/buying experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership Experience: Previous experience leading small teams.
  • Industrial Knowledge: Good working knowledge of industrial markets, manufacturing processes, and technical aspects of industrial commodities.
  • Organizational Skills: Well-organized, disciplined, and must possess high work standards.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and suppliers.
  • Integrity: Ability to do what is morally and ethically correct in an expedient manner.
  • Stress Management: Strong ability to perform maturely under stress and/or opposition.
  • Negotiation Skills: Excellent negotiation skills that breakdown barriers between parties resulting in agreements of mutual acceptance.

  • Work Environment: Standard office environment with frequent exposure to production environment.
  • Physical Abilities: Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach, and work in limited space.
