Job Title: Master Field Technician

Gregory Poole Equipment Company is seeking a highly skilled Master Field Technician to join our team. As a Master Field Technician, you will be responsible for independently troubleshooting, removing, installing, replacing, rebuilding, repairing, and testing parts/equipment on construction equipment at an expert level while working in the field.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Check equipment and supplies required to perform work scheduled, comply with PPE requirements, and prepare for duties.
  • Use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, and parts diagrams to troubleshoot construction equipment.
  • Operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to lift or move parts into position to be repaired.
  • Use hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment on construction equipment.
  • Use multiple resources and computers to reference parts, obtain information about parts, and enter data into record systems.
  • Climb up onto, under, and into vehicles to gain access to all parts of the vehicle.
  • Use overhead hoists, lift devices, forklifts, and other aids to move items off the vehicle and then to move parts to locations for disassembly, repair, and reassembly.
  • Perform inspections, do preventative maintenance, change oil, replace filters, belts, coolants, hoses, and may drain/clean/refill fuel systems.
  • Use welders to weld frames and use power grinders to grind welds smooth.
  • Lift/carry and position hydraulic rams used to install press-fit items.
  • Use power washers and spray paint equipment to clean and paint the vehicle.
  • Use instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.
  • Resolve various complex machine issues with Cat and Technical Service.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school education or GED.
  • Work Experience: Eight years of experience with Cat equipment or other similar equipment.
  • Physical: Must be able to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb beside, onto, and underneath various equipment to perform diagnosis and repairs.
  • Other: Must be able to effectively document repair activities on customer work orders, have cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Requirements:
  • Field Activity: Must be able to daily operate an assigned service vehicle and be prequalified to operate under GPEC Fleet Policy Standards.
  • Valid state driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or DOT medical certification may be required for some positions.
