Job Summary

UTMB Health seeks a highly skilled Audiologist II, Speech to join our team. As a key member of our audiology department, you will provide advanced professional skills in audiological diagnosis and evaluation, and deliver habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer a range of audiometric tests to determine patients' hearing thresholds, degree, site, and nature of damage to the auditory system, and develop effective treatment plans.
  • Conduct patient evaluations and treatments, utilizing techniques tailored to the needs of neonates, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Interpret diagnostic test results, prepare reports on diagnostic testing, implications of hearing disorders, and treatment plans, and evaluate patients' progress with amplification or other treatment planning.
  • Develop, conduct, and direct identification, conservation, habilitative, and rehabilitative programs, and determine the need for patient referral to specialists.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to patients and other departments, and assist in evaluating standards of patient care, assessing areas of need or improvement, and making recommendations for updates to procedures.
  • Supervise clinical work of support personnel, instruct and demonstrate testing procedures and treatments to clinic personnel, medical students, and residents, and participate in interdisciplinary testing and research projects.
  • Serve as a preceptor to audiology doctoral students, and adhere to internal controls established for the department.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Audiology and three years of experience.
  • Certification or eligibility for Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.
  • Licensure or eligibility for Audiology License from the Texas State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
