Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team at CorrHealth. As a Mental Health Specialist, you will be responsible for providing mental health services to inmates, including assessments, evaluations, and treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct intakes, evaluations, and assessments for inmates referred by security, healthcare, or community staff
  • Identify mental health symptoms and treatment needs, and make recommendations to healthcare unit and security staff
  • Coordinate with medical professionals to ensure evaluation and care of patients
  • Provide non-pharmacological treatments and interventions as needed
  • Provide mental health crisis and suicide intervention and management
  • Provide clinical supervision and treatment plans for inmates on caseload
  • Monitor conditions and treatment needs of special inmate population
  • Provide staff training in relevant mental health issues
  • Attend treatment team meetings and participate in CQI and QA studies
  • Provide treatment services in all areas of the facility
  • Provide consultation to security and healthcare staff regarding patient behavior and safety concerns
  • Document services and encounters accurately and maintain confidentiality
Requirements
  • Master's level education in a related field (e.g. Clinical Psychology, Counseling, Social Work)
  • Licensure in field may be required (e.g. LCPC, LPCC, LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LMFT, LAC, LSW)
  • Correctional mental health experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and dignity of inmates
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively with inmates, staff, and medical professionals
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a correctional facility, which may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens and other health risks. Employees are expected to follow all security rules and regulations to minimize risk.
