Job Summary

Loyola University Chicago is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Accessibility Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Student Accessibility Center, you will play a vital role in ensuring that students with disabilities have equal access to academic and extracurricular opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Support and Accommodations
    • Evaluate and interpret disability documentation to determine eligibility for accommodations
    • Develop and implement individualized accommodation plans to support students with disabilities
    • Provide direct support to students with disabilities, including test proctoring and academic advising
  • Collaboration and Consultation
    • Work closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure accessibility and accommodations
    • Collaborate with campus partners to develop and implement accessibility initiatives
    • Provide training and support to faculty and staff on disability-related issues
  • Communication and Outreach
    • Develop and maintain relationships with students, faculty, and staff to promote accessibility and inclusion
    • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to ensure that accessibility needs are met
    • Participate in campus events and initiatives to promote accessibility and inclusion
  • Administrative and Technical Support
    • Manage and maintain accurate records of student accommodations and support
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to accessibility and accommodations
    • Provide technical support for accessibility-related software and technology
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Master's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
    • One to two years of experience working with students with disabilities
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Knowledge of disability laws and regulations, including ADA and Section 504
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other software applications
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires regular attendance and flexibility to work varying hours, including evenings and weekends. The successful candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities.
