Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Office Receptionist to join our team at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our patient access department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients and visitors, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Coordinate and communicate with staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of patient registration and insurance verification.
  • Assist with the registration process, including data entry and documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary pre-certifications.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, both electronic and paper-based.
  • Collaborate with the Patient Access Supervisor to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a medical office or patient access setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records and other software applications.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team environment and maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive patient information.
