Job Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for employees and compliance with federal and state regulations. This role drives a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain safety, environmental, and health programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and promote a safe working environment.
  • Manage the Safety Supervisor and Safety Coordinator roles to ensure effective implementation of safety programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, training documents, and accident investigations.
  • Coordinate site requirements for compliance management tasks and ensure all annual compliance training is completed.
  • Ensure all Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are up-to-date and maintained for the facility.
  • Collaborate with the management team to evaluate and enforce policy conformance and identify health and safety hazards.
  • Recommend ways to improve health and safety in the workplace and present reports and suggestions to the management team.
  • Evaluate site processes and equipment to determine controls needed to keep workers safe and develop Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) for high-hazard job tasks.
  • Respond to on-site emergencies, incidents, and injuries and complete accident or incident investigations with supervisors and managers to determine root causes.
  • Ensure timely submission of Workers' Compensation and General Liability Claims to the insurance agency.
  • Compile statistics and publish reports for regulators and company management to identify injury trends and implement programs to improve accident statistics.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as business or environmental science.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a safety management role within a manufacturing or operations setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of workflow creation and policy implementation.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NIOSH, and other compliance regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.
  • General understanding of federal, state, and city safety requirements, including OSHA.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
