Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Airline Wheelchair Assistant to join our team at Bags, a SP+ Company. As a key member of our airport operations team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless travel experience for our passengers with mobility needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and efficient wheelchair assistance to passengers to and from gates, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the travel process.
  • Assist passengers with moving luggage to their vehicles, taxi stands, parking shuttle stations, and rental car stations, demonstrating exceptional customer service skills.
  • Maintain a friendly and positive attitude, always being attentive to each passenger's individual needs and communicating effectively to ensure their safety and security.
  • Complete any necessary wheelchair or incident reports, adhering to company policies and procedures.
  • Follow dispatcher gate orders and maintain professional working relationships with fellow employees, supervisors, managers, airline employees, and airport authorities.
  • Exceed customer service standards, providing a world-class experience for every passenger.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to clear a background and drug screen.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and push a loaded wheelchair up to 300 pounds up and down inclines throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift passengers from the wheelchair to the seat on the plane.
  • Experience in customer service preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills using appropriate grammar, tone, and pronunciation to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Complete all required training, including airport compliance.
  • Able to obtain an airport badge.
Appearance Guidelines

Employees are expected to present a professional business-like image at all times, adhering to company dress code and grooming standards.

  • For all male employees, a fully grown-in, well-maintained mustache, beard, or goatee is permitted.
  • No visible tattoos or body piercings are allowed; any tattoos must be covered by the uniform or other means agreed upon by management.
  • Clean and well-maintained approved uniforms must be worn on shift.
  • Additional requirements as specified by management.
Work Environment

This is a physically demanding position that requires on-the-job security training and the ability to receive all applicable airport security badges.

The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers, communicate with customers and fellow employees, sit, reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 75 pounds regularly and move in a relatively quick manner.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
