Position Title: Licensed Vocational Nurse Supervisor

Employment Type: Full-time, Non-exempt

Shifts Available: All Shifts

Reports To: Director of Resident Care Services/Wellness Director

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid state LVN License in good standing
  • Experience in geriatric care within a healthcare environment
  • Supervisory experience is preferred
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with residents, families, and team members
  • Proficient documentation skills
  • Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to adjust priorities based on resident needs
  • Professional representation of the community is essential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating and overseeing work schedules for Caregivers and Nursing staff to ensure optimal resident care
  • Support the recruitment process for Caregivers and Nursing staff as directed
  • Engage in marketing efforts and build networks within the healthcare community
  • Facilitate training for staff on health-related topics
  • Serve as a role model for professionalism in appearance, communication, and behavior
  • Participate in the resident assessment process as needed
  • Collaborate with the Wellness Director to ensure resident service plans meet evolving needs
  • Maintain orderliness of the medication cart and medication room
  • Oversee daily care of residents
  • Perform skilled nursing tasks as per company policies and state regulations
  • Respond to resident emergencies, coordinating with emergency services and family as necessary
  • Document observations, concerns, and changes in resident conditions, ensuring follow-up
  • Communicate resident needs and concerns to families and healthcare providers
  • Record and implement physician orders accurately
  • Ensure Caregivers execute the interventions outlined in resident service plans
  • Gather reports from caregivers at the end of shifts
  • Provide handover reports to the incoming Nurse
  • Monitor caregiver performance to ensure compliance with policies and quality care
  • Address caregiver performance issues with appropriate management
  • Manage shift coverage in the event of staff absences
  • Act as Manager on Duty in the absence of higher management
  • Handle family and visitor concerns professionally, documenting actions taken
  • Address minor facility issues during shifts, reporting as needed
  • Secure outside doors during evening shifts and unlock them during morning shifts

Supervisory Duties:

  • Ensure that assigned tasks are completed satisfactorily by Caregivers

Work Environment:

  • Flexible full-time or part-time availability, including some weekends
  • Willingness to take weekend on-call shifts as required

Physical Requirements:

Medium work – Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
