Job SummaryThe Licensed Vocational Nurse will be responsible for providing routine daily nursing care to residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This includes administering medications, performing vital signs, dressing wounds, and providing emotional support to residents and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure that all nursing care is provided in a private and respectful manner
- Check vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
- Dress wounds and apply dressings as needed
- Insert catheters and perform other medical procedures as required
- Listen to residents and their families, addressing their questions and concerns
- Perform accurate and detailed charting of resident progress notes
- Timely report any changes in a resident's condition to the nurse supervisor
- Assist and supervise Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)
- Ensure that equipment is in good working order and report any maintenance issues
- Monitor residents at risk for falls and take necessary precautions
- Collect lab samples and perform other medical tasks as required
- Abide by all facility policies and procedures, including confidentiality and infection control
- Completion of LVN training from an accredited school or college
- Valid LVN license in good standing
- Valid CPR and BLS certification
- IV certification is a plus
- Minimum of 1 year of skilled nursing experience preferred
- Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language
- Ability to use a computer or tablet to enter resident data
The Licensed Vocational Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with residents, families, and healthcare professionals. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse will be exposed to odors, dust, disinfectants, and other environmental hazards. They will also be required to lift up to 25 pounds and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and other health risks.
