Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Pharmacy Technician to join our team in the Infusion Services department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to our patients and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and administer sterile and non-sterile medications, including investigational and controlled substances
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of medication inventory, usage, and quality control
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient care and support
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
  • Provide education and training to pharmacy students, technicians, and other healthcare professionals
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician, two (2) of the years in area of advanced pharmacy technician concentration
  • Registration with Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Registered Technician or Pharmacist Intern is required
  • National certification with Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred
  • Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by ACPE required in Sterile & Hazardous Compounding and Investigational Drug Services only
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required by start date

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code *51.215, which authorizes UT Southwestern to obtain criminal history record information.
