Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Security and System Software Developer to contribute to our efforts in safeguarding computing services and systems. This role involves researching, designing, developing, and maintaining software and hardware solutions within a high-performance computing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to create tools and processes that automate deployment, testing, and monitoring, enhancing the efficiency of centralized security services.
  • Conduct security evaluations and provide consulting on proposed system designs and applications.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to improve operational efficiency for users and staff.
  • Design and implement software systems that ensure secure access and protect against various threats.
  • Manage and configure services related to centralized authentication and authorization.
  • Integrate custom security software into existing systems to bolster security measures.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production services, addressing system issues and user concerns.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in software development with expertise in languages such as C, C++, Java, Perl, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of networking principles and experience troubleshooting in a Linux environment.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of contributing to complex, cross-organizational projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying innovative technologies to address broad tasks and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration and technical presentations.
  • Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Experience with security technologies such as RSA SecurID, SSH, Kerberos, RADIUS, OAuth/OIDC.
  • Familiarity with F5 – BIG IP web application firewalls.
  • Knowledge of data management languages and protocols, including LDAP and SQL.
  • Understanding of security vulnerability analysis techniques.

Additional Information

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. Candidates selected for this role will undergo a background investigation to assess eligibility for access to classified information. All cleared employees are subject to random drug testing, and Q-level clearance necessitates U.S. citizenship.
