Job Summary

Columbia State Community College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Adjunct Faculty - Sociology. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching courses in Sociology and contributing to the academic excellence of our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Instruction: Prepare and deliver lectures, discussions, and other instructional activities to students in Sociology courses.
  • Course Development: Develop and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, and other instructional materials to ensure a high-quality learning experience for students.
  • Student Assessment and Evaluation: Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to students on their progress and understanding of course material.
  • Office Hours and Availability: Maintain regular office hours and be available to meet with students, respond to emails, and provide support as needed.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with developments in the field of Sociology and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching and instructional skills.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree: A Master's degree in Sociology or a related field is required. A minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Sociology is also acceptable.
  • Teaching Experience: Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
  • Higher Education Experience: Experience working in a higher education environment is also preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

Candidates selected for this position will receive a salary of $545 per credit hour. Workload adjustments will be made for faculty teaching classes where the number of contact hours exceeds the number of credit hours. Additionally, a travel stipend may be negotiated at time of hire for faculty traveling more than 80 miles each week to teach their classes.
