About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Documentation Specialist Lead to join our Health Information Management team at Ascension Via Christi in Wichita, Kansas.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) audit plan, utilizing audit findings to create training programs for physicians, mid-level providers, and ancillary staff.
  • Oversight of the CDI department's audit schedule, including concurrent and retrospective reviews of medical records using evidence-based knowledge, protocols, and documentation criteria.
  • Design and deliver formal and informal training materials on audit findings and staff feedback to improve clinical documentation quality and completeness.
  • Collaborate with Health Information Management leadership to develop meaningful goals, metrics, and targets representing CDI's work performance and provider documentation performance.
  • Educate newly hired CDI staff, establishing orientation processes, monitoring progress, and reporting milestones and successes to leadership.
  • Foster relationships with physicians, healthcare team members, and coders to communicate the benefits of accurate and complete documentation.

Requirements

  • Clinical Documentation Proficiency credential from the Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse credential from the Kansas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or required professional licensure at time of hire.

Estimated Salary Range: $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
