We are currently seeking a dedicated and empathetic Employment Support Specialist to be part of our Incarcerated Veterans Transition Program. This position is centered on delivering career guidance and assistance to veterans reintegrating into society after incarceration. The ideal candidate will possess a background in career counseling, a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by veterans, and a strong desire to support individuals in reaching their employment aspirations. Join us in making a significant impact in the lives of our veterans as they strive for a better future.

Compensation: $22.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7am - 4pm

Key Qualifications

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in employment and training programs, case management, or career development activities, particularly with special populations.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews to identify service options and barriers to employment.
  • Perform employment readiness assessments to evaluate interests, education, and experience, aiding in the development of an Individual Employment Plan (IEP).
  • Administer financial wellness assessments to create a plan for economic stability.
  • Provide case management services, documenting participant interactions and activities in participant files and databases, adhering to all deadlines.
  • Engage regularly with participants to monitor progress and ensure active involvement in both the employment and financial wellness plans.
  • Offer job leads and prepare participants by educating them on job search strategies, hiring processes, and current labor market trends.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with employers, ensuring all information is accurately recorded in required databases.
  • Assist participants in accessing community resources through appropriate referrals, including support services such as transportation assistance when eligible.
  • Guide participants in crafting resumes, cover letters, and completing job applications, utilizing technology-driven job search tools and platforms.
  • Provide ongoing coaching on workshops, training, education, and employment activities.
  • Conduct mock interviews for participants needing practice and offer constructive feedback.

  • Possession of a Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation.
  • Current Auto Liability Insurance.
