The Gas Infrastructure Technician is an entry-level role focused on the construction, upkeep, replacement, and repair of natural gas distribution systems. The technician may also need to travel to various job sites based on client requirements, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safety protocols while engaging in new construction, maintenance, replacement, or repair tasks related to natural gas infrastructure.
- Regularly work near live gas systems and other utilities, performing hand digging to locate these utilities.
- Exercise caution to protect utilities, property, the public, and fellow workers.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in optimal working condition.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including shoveling, setting up road signs, and operating pneumatic and engine-driven tools.
- Understand the proper use and upkeep of hand tools.
- Collaborate effectively within a team, following instructions and guidance.
- Possess a foundational knowledge of materials utilized in natural gas infrastructure projects.
- Complete operator qualification tasks as directed.
- Comprehend basic equipment setup concepts.
- Recognize excavation and shoring requirements.
- Know when to utilize personal protective equipment.
- Engage in trenching and bell hole excavation activities.
- Identify various materials used in natural gas infrastructure work.
- Be prepared to work outdoors, often in adverse weather conditions.
- Perform additional related tasks as necessary to fulfill job requirements.
- No prior experience required.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- A Commercial Driver's License is highly preferred.
- Willingness to travel long distances on short notice, as needed.
- Able to work extended hours in various locations, when necessary.
- Capable of lifting over 50 lbs.
- Open to working overtime when requested.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
The physical demands outlined here represent the requirements that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. While executing job duties, the employee is frequently required to communicate verbally and audibly. The employee is often required to stand, walk, and use hands/fingers for handling or feeling, as well as reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment:
While performing job duties, the employee is frequently exposed to dirt, fumes, airborne particles, moving machinery, and vibrations. The employee may occasionally encounter extreme conditions at construction sites. The employee may be subject to various atmospheric conditions that could impact the respiratory system due to fumes, odors, dust, mists, or gases. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be elevated. This position is primarily conducted outdoors.
