Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate mental health specialist to join our team at UNC Health. As a clinical psychiatrist, you will play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating patients with various emotional and psychological issues.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in psychiatric principles and practices, with the ability to thoroughly assess patients, prescribe appropriate medications, and provide psychotherapy when necessary in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to determine diagnoses and treatment plans in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
  • Prescribe and manage medications, ensuring optimal therapeutic outcomes for patients.
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy based on best practices and evidence-based approaches.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and support for clients.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health, treatment options, and coping strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with regulations and ethical standards.
Requirements
  • M.D. or D.O. from an accredited institution.
  • Current board certification or board eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Valid medical license in the state of practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical psychiatry, including medication management and therapy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical guidelines in all patient interactions.

Estimated Salary: $220,000 - $300,000 per year
