Plymouth Housing Group - Lead Residential Specialist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Lead Residential Specialist. This is a unionized position represented by Local 8 of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU). The estimated salary for this role is $30.05 per hour.

Job Summary

The Lead Residential Specialist supports Plymouth residents by working as part of an onsite Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) team committed to supporting resident well-being. Key responsibilities include providing mentorship, support, and guidance to Residential Specialists, and serving as their first point of contact for questions.

This position plays a key role in maintaining high quality service delivery based on the values inherent in Plymouth's mission, the principles of cultural proficiency, the tenets of harm reduction and trauma-informed care, and the 'housing first' philosophy.

Ambitious candidates will have a minimum of two years of experience working in housing/property management in a front desk, customer-facing position, or on-site support role, with at least one year working in settings housing individuals with experiences with homelessness.

Candidates with direct experience in communicating effectively with tenants and the public, model de-escalation techniques, and stay calm in dynamic environments will be highly regarded.


Responsibilities
  1. Assist building leadership team in coordinating daily operations, including scheduling staff and managing shift selection processes according to union and Plymouth protocol.
  2. Provide mentorship and support to the RS team by assisting with onboarding, training, and guidance, modeling excellent customer service, coaching in documentation and logging, and ensuring policies and procedures are implemented consistently.
  3. Collaborate with building team to identify and communicate specific RS support strategies for tenant's housing stability plans.
  4. Maintain building security at all times by monitoring and following all building/staff safety and emergency procedures.
  5. Conduct regular safety/floor checks and promote a safe, positive, and sanitary environment for residents and staff.

Requirements
  • High school diploma, GED certificate, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to model de-escalation techniques and stay calm in dynamic environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
