Job Summary

First National Bank Alaska is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bank Services Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our banking operations team, you will be responsible for monitoring and directing the daily workflow activities of the Lockbox and Central Records Units.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and direct the daily workflow activities of the Lockbox and Central Records Units, promoting the highest level of service to customers through coaching, mentoring, and training of staff.
  2. Review and approve daily work for correctness and compliance with bank policies, procedures, and governing regulations, as well as contractual processing requirements.
  3. Resolve issues with customer accounts and assist other units within the bank to resolve and adjust outages, ensuring that accounts are properly reconciled and accurate and complete adjustment files are maintained.
  4. Act as the initial contact for incoming adjustments and endorsement claims from other financial institutions, making decisions regarding the handling of exception items and out-of-balance conditions.
  5. Liaise with Treasury Management regarding lockbox processing implementations and changes to contract processing, acting as the primary contact with vendors for electronic lockbox processing and implementation.
  6. Maintain awareness of pertinent bank operations procedures and federal regulations, making recommendations to supervisors for procedural changes when necessary.
  7. Prepare work unit budgets and function as the primary budgetary and fiscal administrator for the Banking Services Section, maintaining records of expenditures and ensuring proper general ledger coding.
  8. Perform and ensure proper completion of proof and review functions within the unit, guaranteeing checks in accordance with bank procedures, policy, and customer contractual requirements.
  9. Respond to and/or approve responses to internal and external customer requests for information, maintaining subject matter expertise for areas of operations and awareness of subject matter experts within the bank.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in a finance or business-related field and three years of progressively responsible related bank operations experience, or five years of progressively responsible related bank operations experience, or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience. One year of supervisory experience is also required.

Preferred Qualifications

First National Bank Alaska progressively responsible bank operations experience with at least one year in a supervisory capacity is preferred.

Skills and Abilities

Word processing and spreadsheet software experience is required, with database software experience preferred. The ability to handle highly confidential information, frequent deadlines, and time constraints is also required.

Language Skills

The ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business journals and technical manuals, financial reports, and legal documents is required. The ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community is also required.

Mathematical Skills

The ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference is required. The ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations is also required.

Reasoning Skills

The ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, assess risk, draw valid conclusions, and make sound decisions based on those conclusions is required. The ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several variables is also required.
