Our multifamily development division, DHI Communities, is currently seeking a Multifamily Construction Field Engineer. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager and Superintendent(s) by overseeing subcontractors and suppliers on-site, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and maintaining the professional standards that enhance the reputation of D.R. Horton and DHI Communities.
Key Responsibilities- Review construction documents to identify potential issues and conflicts.
- Update and manage all construction documents, incorporating changes and addenda.
- Conduct site inspections to monitor practices, identify unauthorized personnel, and report any unsafe work conditions.
- Inspect foundations prior to concrete placement, ensuring all dimensions and requirements are met.
- Ensure subcontractors submit accurate daily reports and safety meeting minutes.
- Document work progress through daily reports and observations.
- Assist in creating and managing punch lists for all rough trades, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and more.
- Verify the quality and count of material deliveries and maintain a delivery log.
- Check trusses for integrity and proper bracing, coordinating repairs as necessary.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
This role includes direct management of two or more employees within the Land Department, with responsibilities encompassing interviewing, hiring, training, and performance appraisal.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required.
- One to two years of relevant experience or training preferred.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle are necessary.
- Strong understanding of construction management principles.
- Proficiency in construction business software, including scheduling and estimating tools.
- Familiarity with MS Office and email communication.
- Bachelor's degree in construction or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in multifamily construction is advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
