Job Summary

The Boston Athenaeum seeks a skilled Facilities Manager to oversee daily operations of the building. Reporting to the Director of Building Operations, this role is responsible for managing facilities staff, coordinating maintenance and repairs, and ensuring the highest quality service and value.

This position requires strong administrative and technical skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with others. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise facilities and custodial staff, prioritizing and directing work to ensure timely completion.
  • Manage the CMMS and community submitted service requests.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs and QA/QC all completed work orders and work requests.
  • Coordinate with contracted trades, vendors, and staff to provide carpentry, paint, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Building Operations on projects and conduct daily tours to identify and address deficiencies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Engineering or related field preferred, but not required.
  • 5 years of increasing experience in facilities or trades management role.
  • Experience working with historic properties and collections preferred.
  • Ability to lift pounds and work on-site, full-time.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google applications.
