We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team at Umbra. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, manufacturing, and testing electrical subsystems for next-generation space systems.
Key Responsibilities- Support the full life cycle of flight electronics design, analysis, manufacture, and test as a senior member of the Electrical Engineering team.
- Lead individual subsystem design and project efforts while coordinating with relevant cross-functional stakeholders.
- Perform electrical design, including schematic, parts selection and layout, for spacecraft electronics subsystems (e.g. avionics, solar arrays, batteries, payloads, subsystems and harnessing).
- Perform analysis to demonstrate performance, survivability and optimization of electrical designs.
- Provide guidance to junior level engineers as required.
- Other professional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.
- 7 years of relevant experience developing high reliability electronics hardware.
- Experience in architecture, design and test of both analog and digital electronics.
- Altium schematic capture and Layout experience.
- Experience developing in C / C++ and Python.
- Experience developing firmware for embedded systems (e.g. microcontrollers, FPGAs).
- Practical experience with PCB assembly (i.e. subcontracted pick-and-place).
- Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, and current probes.
- Familiarity with firmware relating to electronics subsystems and serial interfaces such as SPI, RS-422 and RS-485.
- Excellent communications skills, ability and desire to work collaboratively in a team environment, and willingness to guide more junior engineers as required.
