Electrical Systems Engineer

Umbra Lab LLC is seeking a skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our multidisciplinary engineering team developing flight electronics for next-generation space systems.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with the electrical engineering team to design, analyze, manufacture, and test electrical subsystems, including avionics, solar arrays, batteries, payloads, and harnessing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the full life cycle of flight electronics design, analysis, manufacture, and test.
  • Perform electrical design, including schematic, parts selection and layout, for spacecraft electronics subsystems.
  • Other professional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering.
  • 3 years of relevant experience developing high reliability electronics hardware.
  • Experience in design and test of both analog and digital electronics.
  • Practical experience with PCB assembly.
  • Familiarity with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, and current probes.
  • Familiarity with firmware relating to electronics subsystems and serial interfaces.
  • Excellent communications skills, ability and desire to work collaboratively in a team environment, and willingness to learn new skills and technological resources.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced development environment.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience developing high reliability electronics hardware.
  • Electronics design and verification testing experience.
  • Altium schematic capture and Layout experience.
  • Experience developing in C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience developing firmware for embedded systems.
  • Experience developing spacecraft power systems.

We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by skills, responsibilities and relevant work experience.

$105,000 - $157,000 DOE.
