POSITION SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Pennsylvania State University, College of Medicine libraries is looking to recruit part-time library personnel to oversee the access services desk at the Harrell Health Sciences Library during evening and weekend shifts. Responsibilities include:
  • Checking out materials to library patrons
  • Accepting returned items
  • Updating user records
  • Responding to inquiries via phone and in person
  • Opening and closing the library in accordance with established procedures on weekends

During scheduled hours, part-time library staff will be the sole library representatives on-site, thus applicants must demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently. Shifts are four hours in duration and will be arranged based on the availability of part-time staff.

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, including those related to alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, crime reporting, sexual assault, and other relevant matters.
