Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Welder Specialist to join our team at WEG Transformers USA. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating MIG welding machines, adjusting machine and wire feed as required, and working from layout marks, simple drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate MIG welding machines, adjust machine and wire feed as required.
  • Weld on 16 gauge to 10-gauge mild steel, attaching accessories and fittings or seam welding on parts.
  • Work from layout marks, simple drawings, and use scale, square, and power tools.
  • Assemble and tack weld repetitive jobs, finish weld, tack welded assemblies, usually in down and/or vertical position.
  • Operate grinder to clean and shape weld.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional check of own work.
  • Support WEG's 5S program in maintaining work area, equipment, and supplies in a neat, organized manner.
  • Notify supervisor of material shortages or other concerns.
  • Work safely in required PPE to manufacture a high-quality component of a transformer.
Requirements
  • Prior welding experience.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work evening or night shift.
  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend common vocabulary.
  • Must be able to calculate basic math, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  • Must be able to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, plans, layouts, and/or templates.
  • Safety Sensitive position: Drug panel includes THC.
  • Resides within a reasonable commuting distance of Washington MO.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship is not available for these positions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Participation in Future Farmers of America (FFA) or 4-H Welding projects/programs.
  • Completion of Welding Trade school and/or Apprenticeship program.
  • Two years of prior manufacturing experience.
