Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Produce Assistant to join our team at Natural Grocers. As a key member of our produce department, you will be responsible for assisting the Produce Manager in maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and ensuring the department operates efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, making recommendations, and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Produce Management: Assist the Produce Manager in ordering, receiving, and stocking produce, as well as maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring high-quality products are displayed.
  • Department Maintenance: Ensure the produce department is clean, organized, and visually appealing, including rotating stock, culling spoiled produce, and maintaining equipment and tools.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with inventory management, including counting and reconciling inventory, and identifying and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other department members to achieve sales goals, resolve issues, and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience in a grocery, retail, or produce environment preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent customer service skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and basic math skills.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a cold environment.
