Job Summary

The Senior Disability Claims Examiner is responsible for evaluating and authorizing associate short-term and long-term disability claims, Family Medical Leaves, and other Kohler Co. Paid Leaves. This role requires strong analytical and communication skills to ensure compliance with both the Summary Plan Descriptions and local leave law regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze associate disability claims for completeness and eligibility in accordance with the Pay Protection Plan and standard claims processing procedures.
  • Evaluate medical information and communicate with associates and managers to ensure accurate claim processing.
  • Approve and authorize assigned claims and determine benefits due pursuant to the Pay Protection Plan.
  • Coordinate benefit payments with corporate Payroll and communicate claim status with associates and managers.
  • Train and mentor junior Disability Examiners on disability benefit administration procedures and standard operation procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and related laws to efficiently administer FMLA and related policies.
Requirements
  • College education required (bachelors degree) - or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of general claims processing procedures and medical terminology.
  • Prior experience as a Disability Examiner or equivalent professional experience is recommended.
  • Effective inter-personal communication skills and strong personal computer skills (Microsoft Office products) required.
  • Ability to manage multiple open claims and cases simultaneously and work in a team environment.
