POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a skilled group in the production and assembly of aluminum trailers, ensuring that productivity objectives are met while maintaining safety and quality standards. Key responsibilities include managing team performance, fostering employee relations, scheduling, delegating tasks, and ensuring compliance with quality benchmarks and workplace regulations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises a team of Production Staff, including welders and finishers, to achieve daily production goals while balancing quality, efficiency, cost, safety, and team morale.
  • Manages employee schedules to guarantee sufficient staffing for production demands, striving to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Evaluates team performance by establishing clear expectations and objectives; provides timely feedback to employees, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal regulations.
  • Promotes a well-rounded team through cross-training initiatives; encourages professional development by assigning challenging tasks and discussing career advancement opportunities.
  • Facilitates effective communication between team members and management.
  • Reviews production orders to proactively identify potential challenges and mitigate delays.
  • Maintains a clean and organized production environment.
  • Adheres to safety protocols by utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring that all team members uphold safety standards.
  • Ensures that the final products meet established quality criteria, continuously striving for improvement and excellence.
  • Performs additional related duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hands-on experience with various power tools.
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Previous supervisory experience is essential.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and achieve results through team collaboration.
  • Strong planning capabilities, with the foresight to develop action plans for achieving long-term goals.
  • Experience in employee recruitment, retention, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ability to train and develop staff effectively.
  • Competence in measuring performance against established goals and standards.
  • Proficiency in balancing safety, quality, productivity, cost, and employee relations.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Experience in inventory management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing – up to 80% of the time.
  • Walking – up to 80% of the time.
  • Lifting – occasionally up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, and climbing.
  • Moderate use of both hands.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and varying temperatures.
  • Ability to work in environments with dust and debris.
