Alta Planning + Design is seeking a highly skilled Multimodal Transportation Engineer to join our team in Los Angeles. As a key member of our design team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of sustainable transportation in California and beyond.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design of multimodal transportation projects, including complete street reconfigurations, bikeway design, and shared use path design.
- Develop construction documents and produce high-quality graphics to communicate project plans and outcomes.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including planners, landscape architects, and graphics designers, to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliverables.
- Mentor junior staff members and contribute to internal professional development programs.
- Present project findings and recommendations to clients and industry partners.
- 7+ years of experience as a Transportation Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity.
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license or TE (Traffic Engineer) licensure.
- Experience in active, non-motorized transportation and knowledge of project management principles, methods, and techniques.
- Ability to guide staff members and manage internal team expectations.
- Strong initiative and ability to capitalize on opportunities to enhance Alta's position in the marketplace.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple simultaneous projects within budgetary and schedule constraints.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field of study.
- Experience managing large projects for both private and public clients.
- Experience writing and/or presenting white papers and/or providing expert-level presentations at conferences and other events promoting sustainable infrastructure and active, non-motorized transportation.
- Flexible Schedule: Alta offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule where most employees work from home three days per week.
- Compensation: The pay range for this job in Los Angeles is $115,000-$175,000 annually.
- Benefits: Alta offers comprehensive benefits to all full-time employees, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), PTO, and holidays.
