Transportation Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Transportation as a Transportation Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of professional engineering work in bridge design offices. Under the direction of a registered engineer, you will work on various projects, including preparing plans and specifications for bridges and walls, running analyses using bridge design software, and developing details in accordance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and other relevant guidance material.
Key Responsibilities- Work with project engineers, staff engineers, and detailers to prepare plans and specifications for bridges and walls.
- Perform calculations and run analyses using bridge design software.
- Develop details in accordance with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and other relevant guidance material.
- Act as a project engineer on moderate-sized projects, communicating with district project managers, project engineers, and designers.
- Participate in the Caltrans Transportation Engineer (Civil) Rotation Program, which provides opportunities for employees to develop well-rounded project delivery knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Possession of a valid driver's license is required.
- Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Civil) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
- Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required.
