GS2 Sub Assembly Sr Technician

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Senior Technician for GS2 Sub Assembly, you'll play a critical role in the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of hardware for various spaceflight systems.
Responsibilities- Set up and maintain production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment setup.
- Assist with the transition from development to production, including the first articles.
- Manufacture, assemble, and test mechanical, fluid, composites, and electrical flight hardware assemblies according to written procedures and engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
- Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections of engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance.
- Operate various materials handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment, truck-trailer combinations, and other ground support equipment as required.
- Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser trackers, height gauges, and optical measuring instruments.
- Perform drill operations, tight tolerance holes, rivet structures, and assemble small components.
- Install tubing and harness routing.
- Mentor and train less experienced technicians.
- Support vehicle checkouts, such as fluid lines leak checks and full vehicle power-on system checks.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance functions, such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 10 years of direct experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field.
- Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities.
- Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
- Basic computer skills, such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
- Perform repetitive work, including lifting of heavy items, > 50lbs.
- Work off-shift, extended hours overtime, and weekends if/when necessary.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- Industry certification, trade school training, and/or degree in a related field.
- Demonstrated success as a 'hands-on' technical leader.
- Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it.
- Experience in handling large aerospace components.
- Experience in assembling large tight tolerance structures.
- Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment.
- Military experience.
