Key Responsibilities- Stop work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.
- Assist in the development of Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) compliance training to support customer activities.
- Maintain awareness of NCS-related operations within the project.
- Participate in critiques and investigations involving NCS issues.
- Provide field support of operations in the area of nuclear criticality safety.
- Support building activities to ensure criticality safety.
- Review Work Packages, procedures, and other project documents to ensure compliance with NCS requirements.
- Perform Criticality Accident Alarm System (CAAS) assessments.
- Perform audits, surveillances, and assessments of the NCS Program.
- Function as the primary interpretative authority on matters related to the NCS Program.
- Maintain knowledge of NCS-related standards, guides, and codes.
- Prepare and peer review NCS documents.
- Maintain familiarity with assigned Fissile Material Operations (FMOs).
- Review and approve designs, plans, procedures, instructions, and administrative aids that implement NCS requirements.
- Perform NCSE/A implementation walk downs and provide input to site emergency plans.
- Deliver NCS training and evaluate its effectiveness.
- Review applicable facility Safety Basis documents for NCS issues.
- Support the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, verbal, and written skills.
- Broad experience in the development and implementation of NCS Programs.
- Ability to perform calculations with Monte Carlo neutron transport codes.
- Ability to perform hand calculations for criticality.
