Economist Forecaster

We are seeking a highly skilled Economist Forecaster to join our team at the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS). As a key member of our Office of Forecasting, Research and Analysis, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing statewide caseload forecasts for major ODHS and OHA case-based programs.

Our team is dedicated to investigating and charting the intersection between public policy and demand for services, as well as the impact of economic and public policy decisions that affect one-in-four Oregonians.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and modify statistical models from real-world, imperfect data to project statewide caseloads for human services.
• Analyze state-based administrative data to inform policy decisions and budgeting.
• Collaborate with data warehouse programmers and analysts to integrate data across multiple programs and agencies.
• Provide objective and transparent forecasts and research to support operational planning and policy development.

Requirements:

• A Master's degree in economics or a related field and three to five years' experience doing economic or related research or econometric forecasting; OR
• A Ph.D. in economics or a related field and one-year experience doing economic or related research.
• Special consideration will be given to applicants with a background in analysis of state-based administrative data or experience with human services.
