Phlebotomy Specialist Opportunity Job Description
Perform adult and pediatric phlebotomy, as well as daily tasks including centrifuging, aliquoting, and stabilizing patient specimens for transport via courier to the main campus lab or via the pneumatic tube system.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately register patients, verify insurance, and verify all patient demographics.
- Perform pre-analytical specimen receipt, processing, identification verification, and specimen storage.
- Operate centrifuge and pneumatic tube systems, office equipment, and enter information and test orders into the laboratory computer system.
- Help minimize butterfly usage throughout the PSC's, maintain professional knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, and provide training to others.
- Perform phlebotomy on inpatient floors, support the ED phlebotomy staff, and may be required to draw outpatients during off-hours.
- Manage work unit supply ordering and inventory.
Work Environment:
This is a fully on-site position in a medical facility.
