Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled phlebotomist to join our team at a correctional facility. As a Correctional Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from inmates for diagnostic testing, therapeutic procedures, or research purposes. Your expertise will ensure accurate and timely specimen handling, processing, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect blood specimens from inmates using venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques.
- Properly label and handle blood specimens to ensure accurate identification and integrity.
- Process specimens for transport to the laboratory and maintain documentation of collection procedures.
- Interact with inmates in a professional and compassionate manner, explaining the blood collection process and addressing concerns or questions.
- Adhere to infection control practices to prevent the transmission of bloodborne pathogens within the facility.
- Maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensuring they are clean, sterile, and in good working condition.
- Document blood collection activities accurately and promptly, recording relevant information such as patient demographics, specimen details, and collection dates/times.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited educational institution.
- Licensed as a Phlebotomist by the State in which the position is located.
- 1-2+ years of relevant Phlebotomist experience.
