Position Overview
As a Float Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in patient care coordination and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with physicians and staff to facilitate daily patient care and access.
- Serve as a communication bridge between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff.
- Ensure smooth patient flow throughout the facility.
- Provide direct patient care in accordance with licensure and organizational policies.
- Collect and label lab specimens accurately following departmental protocols.
- Prioritize patient care by executing physician orders and nursing procedures.
- Prepare necessary information for patient visits to ensure effective consultations.
- Communicate any issues or concerns to the Office Supervisor/Manager in a timely manner.
- Verify patient identities before administering care or documenting services.
- Utilize the EHR system effectively for task management.
Vital Signs Monitoring:
Accurately obtain and document vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, and weight in the EHR.
- Administer injections as per established protocols and document accordingly.
- Demonstrate proficiency in telephone triage and document interactions in the EHR.
- Schedule patient appointments in alignment with departmental guidelines.
- Adhere to universal safety precautions when handling medications and disposing of medical waste.
- Maintain and update medication lists in the EHR, ensuring accurate documentation of allergies.
- Enter orders and schedule appointments within the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
- Facilitate timely referrals and consult orders through the PMS and EHR.
- Maintain logs for emergency equipment in compliance with policies.
- Support transitions of care to urgent care or hospital settings as needed.
- Ensure proficiency with departmental equipment and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Assist in the procurement and management of medical supplies as assigned.
- Exhibit flexibility in adapting to various work schedules.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Ability to push and pull objects, considering weight and frequency.
- Physical strength to lift heavy items as necessary.
- Mobility to move efficiently within the workplace.
- Agility to maneuver in various positions.
- Dexterity for handling equipment and tools.
- Maintain balance while climbing, bending, or reaching.
- Endurance for prolonged standing, walking, or typing tasks.
- Exposure to chemicals, including chemotherapy agents.
- Potential for loud noises and vibrations.
- Working in extreme temperatures and confined spaces.
Allergens:
Potential exposure to dust, mold, and pollen.
- Risks associated with magnetic fields and radiation.
- Handling of sharps and latex materials.
- Risk of exposure to infectious materials, including blood and body fluids.
- Possible contact with patients or specimens.
- Unanticipated exposure scenarios.
- Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Valid New Jersey State Nursing License and BLS certification required.
- 0 - 1 years of experience; 2-4 years preferred.
- Proficient communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities.
- Capacity to manage diverse tasks under time constraints with accuracy.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills are essential.
- Familiarity with standard office equipment and technology preferred.
- Experience with patient care equipment and EHR systems is advantageous.
Travel Requirements:
