Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled PACU Registered Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive care to patients in the post-anesthesia care unit, ensuring their safety and comfort during the recovery process.
Key Responsibilities- Provide total comprehensive care to patients by applying the nursing process in an organized and systematic manner.
- Complete initial assessments and reassess patient condition as needed.
- Interpret and utilize clinical data in the plan of care.
- Assess patient for potential risk factors and intervene to mitigate risk and prevent harm.
- Recognize and integrate patient special needs and individualize care.
- Adhere to infection control standards specific to patient care.
- Assume accountability for managing the delivery of patient care and promoting safety in all activities.
- Act as a patient advocate and uphold patient rights.
- Assess and respond to individual, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of the patient.
- Administer medications correctly within the restrictions and limitations defined by the New Jersey State Practice Act and the Center's policies and procedures.
- Prioritize and organize work assignments and adjust priorities based on changing situations.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
- Anticipate potential length of stay or discharge problems.
- Associate's degree in nursing required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- New Jersey State Nursing License required; BLS and ACLS required; PALS preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in a PACU or perioperative setting required; 5+ years preferred.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, required.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
- Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy required.
- Ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills required.
- Maintain annual competencies.
