Job Summary:

As a Hospitalist Physician Assistant at Allina Health, you will provide comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations as part of a Physician/Physician Assistant team. You will work in both inpatient and outpatient situations, performing independently or as part of a treatment team. Your role will also involve serving as an educator, case manager, consultant to staff, and multidisciplinary healthcare team member.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical care for patients while they are in the hospital.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Consult with physicians when patient needs are outside of your scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Deliver patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refer patients for specialty care when necessary.
  • Promote communication within the team and other interdisciplinary healthcare staff.
  • Collaborate with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
  • Act as a liaison with outside agencies as needed.

Practice Details:

  • Work as part of a 70+ Hospitalist team, including physicians and APPs.
  • Participate in a strong teaching atmosphere with the option to work with our associated family medicine residency program.
  • Adhere to a 7 on 7 off schedule.
  • Utilize Excellian, our EMR, a software product from Epic, considered one of the most comprehensive systems in the nation.
  • Work .75 FTE with day/evening/night shifts.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree completion of accredited Physician Assistant program or Master's degree completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Certification of CNP through ANCC or PA certification.
  • Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain).
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI).
  • Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing/licensing.
