Objective and Overview

Oversee safety and compliance initiatives to ensure exemplary performance in maintaining a secure working environment for all personnel and visitors. Initiate, execute, manage, and assess safety training, policies, procedures, and methodologies to guarantee adherence to all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Supervise and coordinate health and safety-related programs and committees. Collaborate closely with the leadership team to guide health and safety best practices, processes, and tools. Lead and/or manage the prompt and effective resolution of safety-related issues and incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety as the foremost concern for all personnel. Clearly communicate safety performance and enhancements to all organizational members.
  • Support the facility by ensuring compliance with safety regulations (interpretation of regulations). Act as the company representative during OSHA inspections, conduct facility compliance audits, prepare reports, and suggest improvements.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws, regulations, and standards. Relay updates to relevant parties and provide education/training to ensure compliance with these changes.
  • Lead and facilitate teams in conducting investigations, employing root cause analysis for all significant incidents. Utilize safety expertise to ensure accurate identification of incident root causes and the implementation of effective corrective actions. Drive initiatives to completion.
  • Ensure that training and education for personnel are current and meet safety regulations; promote a proactive safety culture within the team.
  • Continuously evaluate, enhance, and implement processes (e.g., training, job safety analysis, safety observations, PEP, etc.) to achieve the facility's short and long-term safety objectives.
  • Identify best practices through education and benchmarking.
  • Lead or engage in safety-related teams/committees. Provide direction, education, and support for team/committee representatives.
  • Maintain OSHA-compliant Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by:
  • Assisting in contract evaluations with purchasing.
  • Ensuring thorough accident/incident investigation, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Developing and maintaining safety policy procedures/documentation, ensuring complete and current safety records (e.g., OSHA, training, Program Evaluation Profile (PEP), inspection, observation, etc.).
  • Monitor and manage safety-related expenditures.
  • Collaborate with the corporate safety team to conduct annual training, audits, risk assessments, best practice sharing, and other necessary activities.
  • Coordinate ergonomic assessments.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Safety or Engineering

Previous Job Experiences:

  • A minimum of 3 years in a Health and Safety role
