The Operations Supervisor is an entry-level leader role that oversees a team of employees focused on Production and Manufacturing initiatives aimed at optimizing processes, reducing waste, and enhancing productivity.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise Manufacturing Functions: Review production orders and schedules to ensure production requirements are met according to established production schedules.
- Problem Solving: Resolve operational, process, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and production downtime.
- Personnel Scheduling: Schedule personnel and assign work to meet production requirements efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Production Workflow: Ensure adherence to established priorities for production workflow.
- Departmental Procedures: Assist with planning, developing, and administering departmental procedures, policies, and standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Develop measures or standards for performance and use these to monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve employees and production.
- Shift Reports: Maintain shift reports and records.
- Employee Feedback: Provide consistent and constructive feedback to employees; train, develop, or identify employee training and resource needs.
- Quality Control: Establish priorities, and monitor the quality and quantity of work performed by the department and the individuals within the department.
- Resource Management: Maintain control of resources to ensure ongoing operation of the department within the established budget, productivity, and efficiency standards.
- Safety: Work with the safety committee by attending safety meetings, working on safety projects, completing safety surveys, performing safety training, and ensuring a safe work environment and appropriate employee behavior.
- Employee Relations: Involved in the hiring process for assigned employee work group. Responsible for employee counseling and disciplinary actions, including recommendations for termination.
- Performance Metrics: Maintain accurate records of improvement initiatives, performance metrics, and outcomes.
- Work Quality: Monitor work quality and adherence to standards, ensuring products or services meet or exceed established criteria.
- Operational Issues: Address and resolve operational issues, conflicts, and challenges that may arise within the team.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. 4-6 years' relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience. 0-2 years of management experience.
Competencies: Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job discipline or field. Focused on and responsible for their team's productivity and collective impact. Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills. Able to multitask, prioritize, delegate, and manage time effectively. High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
