Rail Car Maintenance Technician

At Holland America Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Rail Car Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks on our fleet of rail cars and rail-related components.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on rail cars and rail-related components, including electrical systems, diesel power generation, HVACs, commercial appliances, and welding and fabrication.
  • Conduct safety inspections and repairs on passenger rail cars, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records in the appropriate logs.
  • Perform other maintenance duties as required by departmental supervision.
Requirements:
  • Equivalent to a technical training or certification program in rail maintenance.
  • Directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirement.
  • Certification or work experience in a related technical field, such as electrical, HVAC, diesel power generators, or welding/fabrication.
  • EPA Freon Handlers certification preferred.
  • Complete set of mechanics hand tools required.
  • Current, valid state driver license with a clean driving record.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Troubleshoot complex problems involving electrical, HVAC, or diesel generators and effect the correct repairs.
  • Proficiency in computer business applications, including computerized maintenance inventory and laptop diagnostics.
  • Ability to prioritize work, maintain attention to time constraints, and work in a team or group environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and written, with employees and management.
