POSITION OVERVIEW

The Mill Repair Technician is tasked with the upkeep and repair of mining and milling machinery, including conveyors, hydraulic systems, pumps, and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Conduct basic repairs on pumps, both horizontal and vertical.


• Execute fundamental repairs on crushers, including rebuilding, lubrication, and hydraulic maintenance.


• Perform basic cutting and welding tasks using 14 in ARC techniques.


• Carry out essential repairs on cyclones.


• Demonstrate basic mill lining skills, including lifting (up to 50 lbs), squatting, crawling, and navigating uneven surfaces.


• Ensure proper installation of bearings.


• Engage in basic pipe fitting and threading across various pipe types.


• Utilize rigging skills for pulling straps and cables (up to 15 lbs).


• Adjust conveyor belts, including pulling (up to 50 lbs).


• Operate come-along hoists effectively.


• Utilize power tools safely and effectively.


• Employ torque wrenches, hydraulic jacks, and hand tools appropriately.


• Conduct diagnostics as required.


• Perform inspections and repairs on flotation systems.


• Maintain wet and dry dust collectors.


• Complete other assigned tasks as necessary.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES


• Proficient in operating forklifts, manlifts, hydraulic lifts, and similar equipment.


• Previous mechanical repair and/or welding experience with heavy machinery is essential.


• Basic cutting and welding skills are required.


• Familiarity with pipe fitting and threading for various pipe types is necessary.


• Ability to walk distances, navigate stairs, and carry tools weighing up to 50 lbs.


• Capacity to reach, lift, and hold overhead loads of approximately 50 lbs.


• Ability to swing a 20 lb. hammer.


• Comfort working in confined spaces, at heights, and in cramped conditions.


• Ability to work in high temperatures and humid environments (inside a mill during summer).


• Basic proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.


• Skill in using precision tools.


• Understanding of schematics is necessary.


• Knowledge of lubrication and oiling processes.


• Experience with trunnion bearing replacements.


• Candidates must successfully pass the first-class or second-class repairman test and welding test to be considered.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


• High School Diploma or GED is required.
