Job Overview

As a Warehouse Management System (WMS) Specialist, you will be instrumental in enhancing the productivity and operational efficiency of our warehouse functions. Your key role will be to act as the expert and primary resource for all facets of the WMS within our organization. You will work in close collaboration with warehouse personnel, IT teams, and management to ensure effective integration, optimization, and utilization of the WMS.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. System Setup and Upkeep: Tailoring and maintaining the WMS to align with the specific demands and requirements of warehouse operations. This may include establishing user profiles, defining operational workflows, configuring picking routes, and personalizing reporting formats.
  2. User Education and Assistance: Delivering training to warehouse personnel on the effective use of the WMS. This encompasses conducting initial training sessions for new employees and providing ongoing support and guidance to current users to ensure they can execute their tasks proficiently within the system.
  3. Issue Diagnosis and Resolution: Serving as the primary contact for troubleshooting any challenges or errors encountered within the WMS. Specialists should have a comprehensive understanding of the system's features and be capable of diagnosing and resolving issues swiftly to minimize disruptions in warehouse operations.
  4. System Improvements and Updates: Partnering with IT departments and WMS vendors to pinpoint opportunities for system enhancements and updates. Specialists may participate in testing new functionalities or version upgrades to ensure compatibility and smooth integration within the warehouse setting.
  5. Data Evaluation and Reporting: Utilizing the reporting capabilities of the WMS to generate insights into warehouse performance metrics such as order fulfillment rates, inventory accuracy, and labor productivity. Specialists may be tasked with analyzing this data to identify areas for enhancement and implementing strategies to optimize warehouse processes.
  6. Process Optimization Initiatives: Actively seeking opportunities to streamline warehouse operations and enhance efficiency through the WMS. This may involve suggesting workflow improvements, implementing new features or modules, or redesigning existing processes to better utilize the system's capabilities.
  7. Documentation and Training Resources: Developing and maintaining documentation, user manuals, and training resources related to the WMS. Specialists should ensure that all pertinent documentation is current and easily accessible to warehouse personnel to facilitate training and support efforts.
  8. Interdepartmental Collaboration: Working alongside other departments such as Operations, IT, and Supply Chain to ensure alignment between warehouse processes and broader business objectives. Specialists may engage in interdepartmental meetings or projects to coordinate efforts and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

Proficiency in WMS software (e.g., Manhattan Associates, SAP EWM, Oracle WMS) is essential, preferably with experience as a Specialist.

Demonstrated experience in a similar capacity, ideally within a warehouse or distribution center environment.

Strong analytical abilities with the capacity to interpret data, identify trends, and make informed recommendations.

Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Detail-oriented approach with a focus on precision and quality.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work efficiently in a dynamic environment.

A bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, information technology, or a related field is preferred.

Certification in WMS administration or relevant credentials (e.g., APICS CPIM, Six Sigma) would be beneficial.

-Availability to work onsite at our distribution center on a specified schedule is required.
