Overview:
This position is within a 56-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that prides itself on a collaborative team of skilled nurses dedicated to the care of both low birth weight and full-term infants. Our unit emphasizes a robust multidisciplinary approach to Quality Improvement (QI), supported by an active family advisory council and unit-based committees.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a NICU setting is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is essential.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Must be goal-oriented and focused on outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities or experience as a Charge Nurse is preferred.
  • Completion of all orientation programs is required.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Current Registered Nurse License in New Jersey.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position.
  • Evening shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Availability for on-call duties, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Nurse Manager in ensuring that high-quality nursing care is provided to all patients within the nursing units, in alignment with the hospital's philosophy, policies, and procedures. Contribute to the development of patient care standards, orientation, and ongoing education. Participate in evaluating staff performance in accordance with organizational policies. Engage in nursing Quality Improvement initiatives. Support unit administration tasks, including scheduling, payroll, and inventory management. Maintain and exemplify the clinical skills necessary for patient care. Utilize knowledge of growth and development principles to assess and address each patient's specific needs. Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, laws, and regulations.
