POSITION SUMMARY

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is seeking a skilled Employee Relations Advisor to join our Office of Employee Relations. This role is pivotal in managing various aspects of employee disciplinary actions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are essential for this position and may include additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • Oversee all stages of disciplinary procedures, ensuring compliance with established guidelines and standards.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of Reports of Investigation/Inquiry to recommend suitable disciplinary measures.
  • Provide expert guidance to management on handling reported misconduct and draft comprehensive disciplinary proposal letters.
  • Review employee responses and participate in discussions with decision-makers.
  • Advise on the best courses of action based on employee feedback and historical precedents.
  • Ensure that all advice aligns with the department's employee relations philosophy and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Maintain accurate case files and enter all assigned cases into the designated tracking system.
  • Deliver monthly updates on case statuses to relevant stakeholders.
  • Engage in regular meetings with management to prioritize case processing and address any concerns.
  • Report directly to the Chief of Employee Relations, who will oversee your work.

QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of human resources management principles, laws, and regulations.
  • Proven ability to provide advisory services and develop solutions for complex employee relations issues.
  • Exceptional writing and drafting skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily office-based, requiring frequent use of computers and standard office equipment. Occasional travel may be necessary.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This role does not involve supervisory duties.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with the operational environment of the State Department.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and background check. If applicable, obtaining necessary security clearances is required.
