Our client, an association based in DC, is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to support onboarding, employee relations, recruitment, and timekeeping operations.


Job Details:

  • Title: Employee Relations Specialist
  • Type: Contract
  • Length: through March 2025 with chance of extension
  • Location: Hybrid schedule in NE Washington, DC
  • Rate/Salary: $28- $32/hr
  • Background Check: Will be ran upon offer


Candidate profile and qualifications:

  • Experience- 5 + years of prior related work experience
  • Experience with employee relations investigations- must have
  • Understanding of government employee laws and regulations and personnel policies and procedures
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and listening skills and problem solving skills
  • Education: BA/BS required, preferably in Human Resources


Job Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Assists in employee relations investigations by taking notes and drafting initial findings for HR Business Partners.
  • Maintains accurate HR documentation and data integrity within relevant internal recordkeeping systems; conducts audits and updates HR information on the Staff Portal.
  • Leverages knowledge of employment law to ensure compliance with items like EEO reporting and the rollout of new policies; updates employee handbooks as required.
  • Fosters trust-based, collaborative, and respectful relationships with management and staff, partnering effectively across the organization and within the HR department.
  • Supports payroll functions by helping with timekeeping and related tasks.
  • Provides assistance with recruiting efforts when needed.
  • Performs data entry, manages electronic filing systems, and tracks various HR metrics and reports.
  • Identifies trends and offers recommendations to the HR Director on programs and policies that address current workplace challenges.
