JOB SUMMARY

We are currently seeking extra-help positions for Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) and Licensed Psychiatric Technicians (LPT) at our inpatient Psychiatric Health Facility. Our facility offers various shifts to accommodate flexible scheduling and presents significant opportunities for professional growth.
In this role, you will work under general supervision to provide essential psychiatric nursing care to patients experiencing mental health challenges. Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering both acute and chronic psychiatric nursing care to patients.
- Overseeing the activities of Mental Health Workers.
- Utilizing specialized communication techniques to interact with patients.
- Planning and facilitating group and recreational activities.
- Encouraging patient engagement in therapeutic and recreational activities.
- Developing individualized care plans and setting goals for patients.
- Assisting patients in gaining skills to manage their mental health conditions.
- Participating in the admission process for new patients.
- Executing physician orders and monitoring patient behavior.
- Maintaining accurate records of patient care and progress.
- Providing education to patients regarding their medications.
- Participating in therapy sessions and staff meetings.
- Ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients.
- Transporting patients as necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Nursing techniques applicable to psychiatric care; practices for supporting individuals with mental health issues; current nursing theories and practices; medication management; and basic mathematical skills.
Ability to:
Provide effective nursing care to patients with mental health conditions; maintain confidentiality; establish positive relationships with patients and staff; communicate clearly; and keep accurate records.
Education and Experience:
Completion of educational requirements for Psychiatric Technician or Licensed Vocational Nurse certification; relevant experience is preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to respond effectively in emergencies; maintain sound judgment; and support the physical needs of patients. A valid license as a Psychiatric Technician or registration as a Licensed Vocational Nurse is required.
